Wat Mahathat

Location: 

    Prang( tall tower-like spire) at Wat Mahathat had been built at early Ayutthaya period. It is influenced by Khmer style architecture. The Buddha relics are kept under the base of Prang. Wat Mahathat is one of the most important temple during Auytthaya period. It was  where the Supreme Patriarch had lived until the end of Ayutthaya period.

 

 

Wat Mongkolbophit

Location: 

    Another temple where most tourists want to visit to pay homage to Luang po Mongkolbophit. In front of the temple there are many shops selling local products for example fish mobile, basketery, rattan products, Aranyik knives,jam, Thai desserts. It is good place for tourists who want to visit beautiful temple and want to buy souveniours at the same time.

 

 

Wat Chaiwatthanaram

Location: 

    This temple is considered as one of the most beautiful temples which were built during Ayutthaya period. Its architectural style and structure are unique. It is located along the Chaophraya riverside. The Fine Arts Department has renovated the temple for clearer visible magnificent view.

 

 

Wat Yai Chaimongkol

Location: 

    It is the most historical important temple and the most favourite place which tourists visit the most. Hightlight here is the highest pagoda in Ayutthaya. Inside the temple area there is a building located the statue of King Naresuan the Great. The believers come here to commemorate the favour of the King Naresuan. The building is surrounded by shady green park.

 

 

Temple Niwetthammaprawat

Location: 

    It is the Buddhist temple which appearance resembles that of a Christian church. It was the royal temple located within the grounds of the Bang Pa-In royal palace. Its architecture is Gothic Rivival style-pointed arches and stained glass windows. The principal Buddha statue in the main hall is named ‘Phra Buddhanarumon Dhammawopas’ in the attitude of meditation and surrounded by arch frame.

 

 

Wat Phananchoeng Worawihan

Location: 

    or know as ‘Wat Phranangcheong’ an old and well-known temple where Luang po To (Phra To), an ancient Buddha statue which is emblematic and highly respectable for both Thais and foreigners, is enshrined. Many people from all over the world come here always.

 

Wat Phra Si Sanphet

Location: 

    The temple with no monks. It is where to keep the relics of the king. This temple can compare to the temple of the emerald Buddha in Bangkok. Nowadays just bricks and ruins remains but always draw attention from tourists.

 

 

Bang Pa-In Palace

Location: 

    It was constructed during the reign of King Prasat Thong. The pond was created in the middle of Bang Pa-In island. The Aisawan Thiphya-Art (Divine Seat of Freedom) was constructed in the middle of the pond. Later during the reign of King Chulalongkorn the palace was restored to be the royal palace during the King traveled to Ayutthaya and for banquet.

 

 

Chao Sam Phraya National Museum

Location: 

    The first national museum of Thailand where the style of display is modern. Ancient objects are displayed with light effect which is more interesting than without special effect. The interesting objects are for example the King’s golden sword, the golden dress and decorations of the royal elephant, the Buddha statue in a pose with seated knees apart and both legs pendant, the bronze head of Buddha statue in U thong period, earthenware, kitchenware.

 

 

Portuguese Village

Location: 

    The portugese were the first Europeans doing business with Ayutthaya. Presently San pedro ancient place or ‘ St. Dominic’s church’ the first church established in Thailand is located in the middle of the Portugese village. Human skeleton, coin, earthenware, accessories and cross were found at this site.

'Luang Pu Tuad Memorial Park'

Location: 

The park covering area more than 200 rai. This park used to be a part of the way which the King Naresuan the Great marched his troops.
That is why the park named ‘the Buddha park the great’. Here is placed the largest monk statue in the world named ‘Luang po thud’.
